5.0 out of 5 stars Inventor's perspective..., February 18, 2010

DISCLAIMER: I'm the inventor!

After losing several stethoscopes after medical school, I started working on a clip for my stethoscope during residency days at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. I started with ballistic nylon, since the military and paramedic services use the same material for holding equipment on their belts. For some reason, however, the nylon fabric and Velcro would only last a few months before becoming completely fatigued. It seemed mainly a problem of repetitive use. Healthcare workers usually use their stethoscopes several times for each of their patients, so the number of times that the Velcro needed to be opened and closed rapidly numbered in the thousands. Ballistic nylon that started out as stiff as plastic would turn into a soft mess.

Over five years and ten iterations later, a patient (who happened to also be a leather tailor) helped me produce a clip out of heavy-duty leather and a stainless belt hook. We spent the next five years... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Long Time Satisfied Customer, March 1, 2010

I've been using James' Batclip for over 10 years and have been through several generations of the product as he's developed it. It is now a product I can barely get by without.

I have suffered enough the discomfort of having the "flea collar" of the stethoscope around my neck, or falling out of a pocket, or just left behind in an exam room. The high quality leather and durable velcro make this product perfect even in a harsh medical environment like the ER. The clip stays on whether you were scrubs or a belt.

I will, occasionally, catch the velcro on something and the clip will release my stethoscope, but this is rare and all in all the product is far superior to any other I've used.

Furthermore, James is awesome about replacing or repairing your clip should you wear out the velcro...and I think it would take a decade or more to wear out the thick leather.

Get one of these, you'll never suffer a sore neck or greasy stethoscope again from... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Great clip - does work better with traditional stethoscopes, November 24, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: The BATCLIP (BLACK)
Got this for the hubby. Here's his review: I don't like carrying my scope in my pocket or around my neck so had been using a plastic clip which was always falling off my belt. The Batclip provides a secure place for my stethoscope and has not fallen off once. My only criticism is that I have some trouble using the Batclip one-handed. I have the Littmann Master Cardiology with the dual bell on one side-the clip works fine, but it appears to work better with a tradtional stethoscope with two bells. Would definitely purchase again, though, and am very satisfied.
