The shoes look like they were chewed by an animal of some sort but have only experienced moderate use. I have wore asics before for trail running, distance, mud races ect and have never had a problem like with this particular pair/model of shoe. I e-mailed the Company offering them a chance to rectify the situation with no response. I run 4-6 miles 3-4 times/week (mainly pavement/asphalt, and a little off-road/dirt). These are the most comfortable and light shoes I have ever worn! Being in South Texas, it is important to have a shoe that breathes... these do just that - my feet never get too hot, as they ventilate very well.
