5.0 out of 5 stars Relief When Needed, January 30, 2010

I do a lot of traveling around the world. Sometimes the tour guides do a lot of talking while you are standing. My problem is not walking as much as standing. The cane is very handy if you need help with stability but the seat is a lifesaver if you can't stand still. On one occasion people in the group offered more money for the seat than I paid. Everyone wanted to know where I purchased it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Used properly, this is a good resting stool, January 7, 2011

The sales details do not discuss this, nor have any of the reviews I have read-- but in the instructions with the stool/cane model that I purchased, the recommended seating style is 'backwards'.

It is better to grasp the cane and fold the seat down facing you and STRADDLE the seat, holding the handle in front of you. With your two feet on the ground in front of you, it aids your center of gravity. Holding the handle also allows you to easily stand up with assistance of your own body weight.

I think perhaps the folks who rate this cane/seat as unsteady or not sturdy may be attempting to sit in it like a chair, using the handle as a backrest. Try turning around and see if the straddle position works better! It does for me. Of course, if you are wearing a skirt, it might be a bit unladylike-- but Give it a Go!
